"Alex Mandossian Answers the In Search Of Heroes Program Questions 'Do you maintain your sense of humor in the face of serious problems?'" by Ralph Zuranski
Well, there’s an old adage, and I think it comes from the Arabic traditions, “Happy is he who can laugh at himself, he will never cease to be amused.” I think humor is huge. I think you can laugh your way out of sickness. I know, and I have read, I think Norman Cousins laughed himself or humored himself out of cancer.
People have lived longer because of humor. I think it sends these neurological electronic impulses through your body and your nervous system that things are good and there is hope.
I think it causes people to live longer so, I think, based on that, if you buy into that, it plays a huge role.
